Our History

Storybound Construction, Inc. is a lifelong culmination of passion for Michael Swiderski.  Michael was given his first hammer as a child, and ever since he has always had a construction project in the works.  Foreshadowing his future, in 1957 Michael conducted his first under house inspection for his grandmother, and later that same year he assisted with the addition onto his grandmother’s home.

Michael continued his passion for construction and entrepreneurship with the start-up of his handyman business in 1968. Providing neighbors landscaping, construction and handyman services early on allowed Michael to hone his business acumen, customer service experience, and craftsmanship.

In 1978 Michael turned his focus to wooden boat construction, and this continues as his lifelong hobby.

2001 brought an amazing renovation opportunity where Michael transformed an historic Vermont farm into a boarding high school for at risk youth.  This combined his passion for construction and his passion for working with children and education.

In 2002, Michael further built upon his passion by developing property in the Allegany’s of Northwest Maryland. This development allowed Michael to again combine his insight and passion for building for a large residential construction and infrastructure project.

In 2006 Michael landed in Mathews County, Virginia and turned his hobby of boat building, into Storybound Woodworks. From the start of Storybound Woodworks, Michael noticed he was being asked to take on larger and more complex projects.  Michael’s attention to detail did not go unnoticed by his clients.   This growth led to the establishment of Storybound Construction, Inc..

Our Team

At Storybound Construction, Inc., each team member comes with a wealth of industry knowledge and site-tested experience, but we’re much more than a construction company. We’re a community of craftsmen who take extreme pride in our work as well as a deep respect, and passion, for the community we live in and serve. We’re sailors, woodworkers, artists, educators and creative thinkers, with an attention to detail and a mind for excellence. Though our individual titles may not indicate our vast skillset, we all work in a variety of specialties, at different levels of leadership, based on experience. A few of these specialties include: laborers, carpentry, framing, sheetrock, concrete masonry, house lifting, plumbing, siding installation, roofing and electrical.

Everyone on the team was incredibly professional and very innovative. We didn’t live on site during the project, but knew we could fully trust Michael and his team.

[The team] couldn’t be more pleasant. We see them around the county, they always say ‘hello’. They’re a pleasure to have around the property. I’ve never had to worry about security, which is important when you’re employing people to work around your home.
